Ligotti interview in New York Review of Science Fiction

I thought some of you might be interested to know that my interview with Tom from last July has been picked up by The New York Review of Science Fiction, where it's featured as the main cover story in the current issue (October 2006). I'm quite pleased, of course, and I hope Tom is as well. I haven't yet mentioned it to him to get his reaction, but I'm fairly confident he'll be glad of it, since he expressed his pleasure to me a month or two ago when I told him how much traffic the interview was getting at my blog.

I attended the World Fantasy Convention in Austin, Texas this past weekend, where I met, among other people, David Hartwell, the editor-extraordinaire who accepted the interview for NYRSF. You may recall that David is well-acquainted with Tom's writing, and has in the past worked with Tom in an editorial capacity (such as when he concluded his modern classic anthology Foundations of Fear with Tom's "Notes on the Writing of Horror"). So it was most gratifying when he told me last Friday evening that he thinks my interview managed to evoke greater candor from Tom than any other he's read.

FYI, I've also posted a message to my blog about all this.

Congratulations, Matt, I'm sure Thomas Ligotti is glad as well.

Anyway, people die...
