The main difference between VHEMT and Antinatalism is that the former desires human extinction in order to save the environment, whereas the latter attributes no metaphysical value to the earth and wishes rather to end the pointless suffering that constitutes human existence. VHEMTers, in the eyes of pure antinatalists, are guilty of anthropomorphising nature (Gaia theory etc.). Antinatalists view the earth as the prison in which they are condemned to do hard time and bear no sentimental feelings toward it.
