The only HC titles I own from them are American Psycho (because it's one of my favorite novels and I wanted a HC version) and Ligotti's Victor Frankenstein book (for the obvious reasons).
I completely agree. That cover art for Kiernan's collection is dire. I do love the cover they did for The Tenant.

Re: Forthcoming Books

In genre fiction sometimes bland art is a mercy. Having said that I don't think I've seen a lot of hideous cover art in recent years, more of them just uninteresting.

Re: Forthcoming Books

Actually there's been quite a bunch of cgi modeled book art that I thought was particularly weak.

The cover looks fine but not the interiors.

Re: Forthcoming Books

Flashback to prerendered 3D art in 90s PC games. Anyway, there's some nice looking art on David Ho's site, so he ain't all bad. His artworks for that CAS volume, on the other hand, instantly show how they were made (as I've said, looks straight out some late 90s point and click adventure
or something) and thus look kinda cheap.

Re: Forthcoming Books

Yeah, it's a shame about that The Averoigne Chronicles book, I actually like the idea of owning a book featuring all of CAS' Averoigne tales in one volume, but when I saw those ghastly interior illustrations (coupled with the ghastly cost), I was like, um, maybe not right now

I felt the same way. I was definitely interested in purchasing that work but was turned off by the cover art.

On the other hand, I felt that Centipede's recent collection of Smith's art and prose poems, "In the Realms of Mystery and Wonder: The Prose Poems and Artwork of Clark Ashton Smith," was truly excellent and filled a huge void. Indispensible for devotees of CAS.

Jesus. Imagine seeing the proofs for these and saying "Yes, I love this. We need more art inspired by the aesthetic of Xavier Renegade Angel."

Re: Book of the Sea from Egaeus

There is a pre-announcement for the forthcoming "Book of the Sea" on the Egaeus Facebook page:

https://www.facebook.com/egaeus.press

Sounds like another week before the official announcement.
