Re: Lovecraft, Ligotti, and the Weirding of Philosophy
The weirding of philosophy, Shoggothic Materialism, Ventriloquial Idealism, Ligotti and HPL thrown in with Kant, Nietzsche and Schopenhauer, etc. Gotta love it. I'm not quite in the mood to don my thinking cap just yet, but I will definitely read this later until I come close to understanding it. Thanks for posting this.

Re: Lovecraft, Ligotti, and the Weirding of Philosophy
Thank you for posting this, it looks very, very interesting ... I just wish it was already Autumn again, so I could settle on the sofa with some tea and cigarettes to read this in a more fitting environment.
Alas, it is still summer and I'll try to make do with what Mother Nature offers me ... Hopefully I'll find time to read this quite interesting article soon! | |||||||||||

Re: Lovecraft, Ligotti, and the Weirding of Philosophy
Has anyone found any new articles that comment on this theme of "weirding" of philosophy? Besides Woodard's article, I have not found anything in the last 5 years that seriously discusses philosophy as it applies to weird fiction. Noel Carroll's "The Philosophy of Horror" was the closest I've seen in the past few years.

Re: Lovecraft, Ligotti, and the Weirding of Philosophy
This one might be relevant, although it's probably more cultural history than philosophy as such:

Re: Lovecraft, Ligotti, and the Weirding of Philosophy
A new book by Graham Harman entitled Weird Realism: Lovecraft and Philosophy is scheduled to be published September 28, according to Harman's blog. I suspect this book has some relation to Harman's "On the Horror of Phenomenology: Lovecraft and Husserl" which appeared in Collapse IV: Concept Horror.
