I've always had a fascination for this holiday and have read the occasional story related to it.
I'd really like to see a well done anthology dedicated to it.

The dioramas are my favorites.

Anyone else feelin' me!

With a number of talented authors and artists, a little history, this tome could be epic!

Re: Día de Muertos

Although not in the horror or weird genre, UNDER THE VOLCANO by Malcolm Lowry is a novel about an alcoholic British counsel, who goes through some strange experiences on the Day of the Dead in Mexico. This book was a precursor to beat literature,a.k.a. Jack Kerouac, William Burroughs. The whole story reeks with el dia de los muertos in Mexico. Although written by brit, many mexicans consider it to be the best novel to capture the soul of Mexico.

This is the novella that tied My Work is Not Yet Done for the Bram Stoker Award for Long Fiction in 2002.
I read it and liked it.

Re: Día de Muertos

There are numerous adult coloring books for the Day of the Dead.

Several editions of Lowry's famous novel (11th on Modern Library's 100 Best Novels of the 20th Century list) have cover art depicting this theme.

Re: Día de Muertos

njhorror's idea of an anthology based on El Dia de los Muertos is a great idea.

WONDERFUL video, bendk!
Now that's a healthy attitude toward death.

The possibilities are endless. Stories, legends, history . . . and the artwork could run the gamut from spectacularly colorful and dazzling to dark and somber.
