Julius Bahnsen in English?
I have become interested in reading Julius Bahnsen after finding a article on philosophical pessimism. I am having no luck at all, aside from some german paperbacks on amazon.

I have a pdf of an essay on Bahnsen that was sent to me by another member here. I'll message you a link. It has a few quotes, and might be the most extensive thing about Bahnsen available in English at the moment.

I think irritus can mean null, void, without consequence.

It would also be great if there were more scholarly works concerning the philosophy of Eduard von Hartmann.
I suppose anything is possible given the somewhat recent interest in Friedrich Schelling. | |||||||||||

My Dropbox account was deleted because I hadn't used it for a long time. I created a new one.
I uploaded the essay about Bahnsen again, people should be able to download it here: Dropbox - Bahnsen.pdf Mr. Veech, A book was recently published called 'Weltschmerz: Pessimism in German Philosophy, 1860-1900,' which I think gives a lot of attention to Eduard von Hartmann. A bit pricey, but probably not too hard to get via interlibrary loan. People affiliated with a university might be able to read it online. | |||||||||||
