Re: Forthcoming Books
It would be good to see Charles L. Grant included in there. As a horror writer, he occupied a sort of artistic middle-ground between Stephen King and Ligotti. Like King, his stories generally featured an amiable mix of likeable, everyday characters and pleasant semi-rustic New England towns, but unlike other mainstream horror writers, Grant's stories almost invariably ended on a sharply sinister note, his characters often finding themselves trapped in an irrational world of darkness and horror from which there's no escape. A library copy of his "Tales from the Nightside" was one of the essential stepping stones leading to my fascination with horror, and it's probably his short and novella-length fiction that deserves the most attention among his output. However, his novel "Night Songs" is worth mentioning, too, not just one of the finest horror novels I've come across, but also seemingly unique in its portrayal of a zombie apocalypse that's equal parts George Romero and Val Lewton. (And that was way before pop culture gave a damn about zombies, too.)

Re: Forthcoming Books
There will indeed be an entry on Grant, who I agree is very worthy of being included in a reference work like this one. The encyclopedia's coverage, while it cannot of course be claimed as universal, is really, really broad.

@ Matt Cardin,
The project looks very intriguing. I guess I'll take this opportunity to tell you I enjoyed "Notes of a Mad Copyist," which I read recently.

Re: Forthcoming Books
More information on Horror Literature Through History, posted recently on Matt Cardin's blog: Horror encyclopedia: My work is (almost) done The Teeming Brain
A couple of points that leapt out at me: The book will include seven original interviews, one of which is with Thomas Ligotti. Toward the end of his post, Cardin writes, "Maybe I’ll get back to editorial work on the first issue of Vastarien (something that’s really pressing right now)."
