I believe it does. The last caption reads: "We have love." Presumably this means that Greg will be reunited with Tony. I should note that although I've read it twice, I still haven't a clue as to what this comic book is about.

Re: Another day, another Grant Morrison interview... in which Ligotti is mentioned

In spite of parts of THE INVISIBLES being brilliant (vol 1 run is the best comic run of any kind I've ever read, hands down), his INVISIBLES v3 conclusion was spectacularly awful. I think he admitted as much in an interview. Something about trying to positively affect his own life at the time through Chaos Magick.

Yeah, I've only read it once. And I'm really not in the mood for a reread right now. But "We have love" does sound like the sort of happy ending Morrison likes.

Morrison must've loved the conclusion to TRUE DETECTIVE, season 1.

I remember Morrison saying in interviews that the chaos magic thing backfired a bit 'cos although it brought him a girlfriend who looked like Ragged Robin the relationship didn't go well. And he contracted some flesh-eating disease that correlated to the one King Mob was infected with. I think he claims these were teething problems while he worked out exactly how chaos magic works; now he is much more specific about how he words a spell so there are no nasty surprises when the universe responds to his will ...

Not sure if he claimed to have figured out how to tame chaos magic by the time of vol 3. But whether he had or not I don't think it really mattered. I think the fact he was always late with the scripts was probably a bigger factor in vol 3 being so disappointing. Along with the attempt to use multiple artists for the finale causing a logistical nightmare.

I'd like to qualify these opinions - Volume 2 is usually considered the high point of the series, and while I think the final volume can be criticized for some unfortunately inconsistent artwork, it's really the culmination of everything coming before it. The Supercontext ending contains more ideas than 10 other comics put together, and the writing remains consistently strong throughout.

I'd also argue that the ending of The Filth isn't as optimistic as it seems - Greg/Ned is still employed by the bio-fascist Hand, or is arguably just insane, and either way his external life circumstances haven't changed. "Reunited with cat" is a bit of a comedown from "cosmic larval birth" in the Invisibles.

Also...Seaguy...has anyone read this? It's vastly unsettling and all of the miniseries' endings (so far...one left to go) have superficially seemed like victories for the title character but actually seem completely compromised if you stop to think about them for more than a few seconds.

I've not read Seaguy. Do you recommend it?

Re: Another day, another Grant Morrison interview... in which Ligotti is mentioned

I'd definitely recommend it. It's completely surreal but in a more casual way than something like Doom Patrol (even though it is stranger than Doom Patrol). Technically/formally it's also much tighter than most of his other work - no giant info dumps and not a page wasted, while maintaining the same level of complexity. It's possibly the best thing he's done in that it seems slight at first but stays with you a long time and keeps throwing up more and more disturbing questions the more you think about it.

I didn't rate Vimanarama either but I was toying with the idea of getting Joe the Barbarian at some point.
