Bob Dylan | New York Post
Dylan has always been arrogant, sometimes in a playful way. It's part of his charm lol.

Bob Dylans Website Scrubs Mention of Winning Nobel Prize in Literature - NBC News
Here is a another news bit about the same thing: I post that link only because of the last sentence: "He is known for taking his time to recognize awards." It's also worth noting that he has, in the past few years, showed up to accept the French Legion d'Honneur,the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Kennedy Center Honor, and an honorary doctorate conferred by the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. That's an incomplete list of his recent award haul. It follows, I believe, that wild horses couldn't keep him away from Stockholm on December 10. He's just currently in the coy phase of his usual response.

Re: Bob Dylan
I love this lost track by Bob Dylan:
| |||||||||||
Your fall should be like the fall of mountains. But I was before mountains. I was in the beginning, and shall be forever. The first and the last. The world come full circle. I am not the wheel. I am the hand that turns the wheel. I am Time, the Destroyer. I was the wind and the stars before this. Before planets. Before heaven and hell. And when all is done, I will be wind again, to blow this world as dust back into endless space. To me the coming and going of Man is as nothing.

Re: Bob Dylan
Did I already mention I love Bob Dylan? I just wanted to make that clear.

"In a less scientific age, he would have been a devil-worshipper, a partaker in the abominations of the Black Mass; or would have given himself to the study and practice of sorcery. His was a religious soul that had failed to find good in the scheme of things; and lacking it, was impelled to make of evil itself an object of secret reverence."

Can song lyrics ever be poetry? - BBC News
Dylan --and Cohen even more -- probably deserved a Nobel. But rap guys? Not a chance.

Re: Bob Dylan
I don't know. Call me crazy, but I actually like some hip hop. I once hated it when I was younger. I like constant repetition, so if I like a beat I want more of it, not something different.

Re: Bob Dylan
Today's news, for those who haven't seen it:
http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/29/entert...rnd/index.html "Please note that no Nobel Lecture will be held. The Academy has reason to believe that a taped version will be sent at a later point." (I love the careful wording of that!) About whether Dylan should have been awarded the prize, I agree with the argument made by David Orr here (though I find this piece rhetorically somewhat obnoxious throughout): https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/24/b...poet.html?_r=1 Good points:
