The first image is a poster from the 20s (I think) and the second illustration is the cover of a spoken word LP of Lovecraft's "Rats in the Walls".

I used to have the David McCallum recording of "The Rats in the Walls" on cassette and thought it quite effective.
This is a great thread, I agree. A lot more supernatural fiction covers can be seen on my Supernatural Fiction Database pages, if anyone is interested.
