Opinions abut the chapbooks by Raphus Press
Dear friends,
Some of our kind customers sent to us their opinion on Raphus chapbooks (especially, our last creation, "The Mendicant of the Books", part of the "Spiritual Meaning of the Massacres"): "Many thanks for sending me a copy of The Mendicant. It really looks rather good – a bit like one of the books you read about in short stories that start off ‘Beware if you read these words... too late!" (Stephen Cashmore) "It's a marvelous production, and it's great that you have resurrected the remarkable title piece. I also enjoyed the pamphlet (...). Long may Raphus Press reign!" (Chris Mikul) The last copies of this chapbook are available at our website. Best (and Happy Holidays) Al

Theophilus out in the streets
Dear friends,
The great Jonathan Wood wrote a beautiful compliment to our current chapbook series: "Spiritual Meaning of the Massacres" (considering, specifically, the first chapbook, The Mendicant of the Books): "I am absolutely delighted with them [The Mendicant of the Books and The Sacred Abysmal Perspective]! They are both true examples of true and original creative philosophical ingenuity, originality and also design. They are fantastical chapbooks and it is an equal delight to have been able to contribute and to assist in other ways. Although I saw the proofed editions when you e-mailed them to me, now that they are in my hands, they veritably glow and crackle and weep with their malign embers. The first two editions of the series, incidentally, are close to being sold out. There are now only 3 numbered copies of the first one, The Mendicant of the Books. In the case of Miracle of Theophilus, the second, there is currently 1 copy available with the pamphlet There are Only Images of Black Waters (a gift for our best customers) and there are 9 copies without the pamphlet for sale. Both the first and the second chapbooks of the series can be purchased on our website (in this link) and will be shipped immediately. The last two editions of the series, featuring unpublished stories by Thomas Stromsholt and Damian Murphy, will be offered in pre-sale campaigns, to be announced shortly. Below, some photos of the gorgeous Miracle of Theophilus, fresh-baked from the Buchmanufaktur workshops. Best, Al PS: Officially, the second Raphus Pamphlet, There are Only Images of Black Waters, a gift for the first buyers of Miracle of Theophilus, are sold out. However, there are another 8 copies of Miracle of Theophilus, without the pamphlet, available for purchase at our website.

Grandville - The last stop before a kind of finale
Dear friends
Some time ago we, from Raphus Press, began a series of chapbooks that served as the analytical background of a strange, perhaps imaginary book. Now, a few months later, we are close to completing our task, presenting the third and penultimate chapbook of the series: Grandville, a volume with creations by Rúben Darío (the great poet from Nicaragua), Ramon Lasalle, Alcebiades Diniz Miguel and a remarkable (and unpublished) essay by Thomas Strømsholt. As usual, for the first fifteen buyers, a small surprise: the third volume of the Raphus Press series of pamphlets, The Aporia of the Aphorism, with important adages for the troubled contemporaneity. Attached to this post, some images of the book and the pamphlet. More information in our catalog. Best for all, Alcebiades

The Kinsman of Fifty-Three Monarchs
Dear Friends
Well, with Grandville almost being released from the Buchmanufaktur headquarters, we at Raphus Press have decided to start pre-sales champaign of the latest, extraordinary chapbook of the Spiritual Meaning series: The Kinsman of Fifty-Three Monarchs, which features the translation of a bibliophile nightmare by Camilo Castelo Branco, in addition to unpublished texts by Ramon Lasalle, Alcebiades Diniz Miguel and a magnificent tale by Damian Murphy, an outstanding author in the contemporary universe of weird stories that needs no introduction. As a gift to our most loyal readers and friends, the first fifteen buyers of The Kinsman of Fifty-Three Monarchs will receive the newest volume in the Raphus Pamphlet series, an unprecedented creation by Jonathan Wood titled The Itinerant follows me. We start today the Kinsman pre-sales campaign, which we hope to send to our customers in early days of April. Visit our website and our Catalogue for other informations. Sincerely,

Grandville – some photos
Dear friends,
Attached to this message, some photos of the new Raphus Press chapbook, the third in the "Spiritual Meaning of the Massacres" series, Grandville. I'm very happy with the final result – in fact, I think this was my best layout creation. Other news: The Kinsman of Fifty-Three Monarchs, our next chapbook and the last in the aforementioned series, should be released soon. In our catalog, all the works of the two series already edited by us are available (in fact, some of them, in case of The Mendicant of the Books, are almost sold out). Then we'll have some new releases that, I think, will be great. Wait for new information coming soon. Best, Al

The end of a long road and the beginning of another one
Dear friends,
William Blake once wrote: 'Improvement makes strait roads, but the crooked roads without Improvement, are roads of Genius.’ I do not know if all the twisting roads are a mirror of Genius, but I can say that the conceptual road of the second series of chapbooks by Raphus Press, 'Spiritual Meaning of the Massacres’, has, in the end, turned into an incredibly intricate, complex way. And beautiful, of course, especially thanks to the contribution of wonderful authors, the old ones (Octave Uzanne, Rémy de Gourmont, Rubén Darío, Camilo Castelo Branco) and the new ones (Jonathan Wood, Ramon Lasalle, Thomas Phillips, Thomas Stromsholt, Damian Murphy). And that path, this often astounding (or terrifying) journey, finally came to an end with the release of The Kinsman of Fifty-Three Monarchs, the last book in the series. A certain sense of emptiness arises when we finish a project like this, but we have already planned how to combat such vertigo in the face of this perhaps little void: a new release, the series Raphus Novellas. As the name of the series indicates, these books will have longer narratives from contemporary authors (no translations of classical authors in the public domain, in this next series). We will privilege the daring experimentation, the unusual, the exquisite. And the first book in the series will be an intricate blend of narrative with touches of Kafka and board game, whose enigmatic and unique nature will probably please the exquisite taste of our loyal customers. The pre-sales campaign will begin soon and the release will be between June and July 2018. Then we will follow up with more compilations of short stories in some brand new chapbooks with the series 'Ashes of the Cities’. To the loyal clients who have already acquired both ‘Kinsman' and their predecessor, ‘Grandville', a notice: both will be sent together with their respective pamphlets, as soon as Buchmanufaktur sends the printed chapbooks. I hope to continue counting on your presence in this new, Stygian and unstable (but certainly exciting) future. Best for all Alcebiades Diniz Miguel
