trying to get some Mark Samuels books
It seems all his books are out of print and you have to pay like $200 for a copy. Does any one know of some cheaper places to buy his books from?

Re: trying to get some Mark Samuels books
The most affordable title is the paperback reprint of The White Hands by Tartarus Press. This only goes for $20 or so the last time I checked. You might try Bookfinder.com, Abebooks, E-bay, etc. to find a secondhand copy of Glyphotech. I found one last year for just a small markup over the original price. Copies of The Face of Twilight, Samuels' novella, can be found pretty cheaply through these sources too.
Then there's The Man Who Collected Machen, his latest collection, which sells for around $50 or $80-100, depending upon whether you order from the publisher (Ex Occidente) or an independent bookseller. Due to concerns raised in the past about Ex Occidente's shipping, it's up to you as to who you're most comfortable buying from. | |||||||||||

Re: trying to get some Mark Samuels books
You didn't do your research, or at least not very well. You can get The White Hands and Other Weird Tales direct from Tartarus for $17, The Man Who Collected Machen for $55 from Ex Occidente, and both Glyphotech and The Face of Twilight from PS Publishing for $15.50 each. That's all but one of his books for just over $100, a far cry from the $200 per book you stated.
It amazes me that so few people think to check publishers' websites . |

Then you're probably out of luck since even sites that accept credit cards do so through Paypal (though I don't think you actually need an account). My suggestion would be to suck it up and get a Paypal account, otherwise you have essentially no chance of finding the books you're looking for.

Re: trying to get some Mark Samuels books
Well, it's good advice, albeit a bit harsh. If you contact Tartarus directly I'm sure they'll be more than happy to take non-PayPal money from you, just as PS Publishing will. You need only ask.

Re: trying to get some Mark Samuels books
Rereading my posts, I guess I did come across a bit harsh, which wasn't really my intention. I'm no fan of Paypal, but it's a necessary evil if you want to purchase things from eBay or most small publishers. That was really my point, and in retrospect I should have put it like that .

Re: trying to get some Mark Samuels books
Tartarus also accept cheques so you could always go down that route if you really want to avoid signing up to Paypal.
