Re: Your Prog Rock favourites?

I like Koenjihyakkei too. Ruins related band for anyone who doesn't know.

Re: Your Prog Rock favourites?

A lot of their stuff is mediocre or corny, but the Dream Theater albums Images and Words/Awake/Scenes from a Memory are prog perfection.

Re: Your Prog Rock favourites?

I've seen you mention Dream Theatre a few times, it's interesting because while ELP are quite divisive among prog fans, I don't know anyone who likes Dream Theatre, yet they're definitely a successful band.

Re: Your Prog Rock favourites?

Really worth seeing is the documentary Romantic Warriors: Rock In Opposition. It's got Henry Cow, Magma, Univers Zero, Art Zoyd, Ruins, Knifeworld and quite a few more. It's really inspiring to see all these people who don't make much money and don't expect to, but are in loads of bands and keep at it. Seems like a benefit is that prog is perhaps more of an international genre than a lot of other rock/pop music?

Art Zoyd - 44 1/2 : Live and Unreleased Works Box Set [12xCD + 2xDVD + 48 page Book] with Exclusive T-Shirt (this price for the USA only)
- Wayside Music

I really wish I could afford this because they're not releasing it unless they get enough pre-orders. I feel bad because I always wish Art Zoyd were one of the most popular prog bands but I can't shell out for this. Spread the word if you know anyone who might like this.

More John Wetton goodness.
I forget how interrelated a lot the British bands were

Speaking of Wetton (RIP), has anyone heard Mogul Thrash?
