Most Embarassing Song You Which Captures Your Interest Lately
I am so horrible at favorite lists and such. I wanted so much to be able to respond to the Favorite Song at the Moment thread, but most of my current favorites are old favorites. Instead, I thought I would initiate a thread where we admit of our affinity to newly discovered songs which we are not quite comfortable of acknowledging, for one reason or another. I offer two here from the same artist, as I immediately searched out another track once the initial virus infected my dream soundtrack. I can only offer my unstable affinity to 80's analog synth-pop in my defense!
Sorry about the "EMBEDDING DISABLED BY REQUEST" nuisance. Apparently YouTube is a now a business enterprise which counts on the en masse capitulation of commercial voyeurism. Click on, wayward sun. Radiation is your afterthought.

Re: Most Embarassing Song You Which Captures Your Interest Lately
I can't recall any recent instances of being embarrassed over liking a particular song, as the notion is rather silly. Songs are there to be enjoyed, after all. Since my own musical tastes range from the B-52s (80s pop) to Burzum (black metal), it's tricky to single anything out that doesn't somehow fit with the rest of it.
Except Violet Sedan Chair. Faux 60s rock created as epherma for the TV series Fringe. They're the favorite band of the show's mad scientist character, but they never actually existed, so the show-makers hired musicians, recorded some songs, and hid Violet Sedan Chair albums in a few used record stores for fans to hunt down. Thankfully, they've been found, and the tracks are on youtube!

I'm too old to be embarrassed.
Let me know if I should be. (I don't listen to much modern music) and I love this song! or how about this oldie but goodie!

Re: Most Embarassing Song You Which Captures Your Interest Lately
A friend of mine burned me a CD with this song in it. I don't know where he found it, I've not been able to track it down amongst Thordendal's discography. Its lighter and jazzier than any of his other stuff which, in many crowds, would be embarrassing enough. It gets better in my case.
A few days ago, it was much warmer in Iowa than it had been, and I was driving along a somewhat crowded stretch of road in Des Moines, windows down and music blaring. In most cases I really don't care what impression the odd s**t I listen to may give passers-by. In this case though, my mind wandered off the music not long after this song started playing, no particular reason, I still really like it. I found myself stopped at a redlight, sandwiched between several cars full of attractive women with their windows rolled down. I hadn't noticed this until, growing impatient with the red light, I idly glanced around my periphery and noticed several of these very attractive ladies giving me this utterly bewildered expression. Up until that point, I also hadn't noticed that this was during the point in the song with spoken narrative regarding alien abductions. Might I add, I was driving by myself, yeah, not a whole lot ways to make yourself look cool at a moment like that.

Actually I am not embarrassed to admit this here, though I'd be embarrassed in many other situations. I just saw a link to this toccata and fugue as played on glass harp listed on John Coulthart's blog - http://www.johncoulthart.com/feuilleton/ . Outstanding.

Heh, Thordendal is one of the most brilliant musical visionaries currently living. Those chicks should have been embarrassed for snubbing it.
