Trump

I don't know what you think about Trump! But I decided to raise the topic here as I think he was preternaturally created from fiction literature, that is as Jethro Furber in Omensetter's Luck by William H. Gass in 1966.
My budding theories on this are growing exponentially here:

George Soros seems to be preternaturally created from fiction literature. Soros is like a James Bond villain.

Re: Trump

I am fine with Trump. I am fine with Hillary too, if she had won. Alot of educated middle class people around me voted for Trump, and I somewhat understand his appeal to them. Trump appears like an un-PC rebel, iconoclast of the century against Hillary's smug establishment attitude of I-cannot-possibly-lose. They also called her a liar for all the scandals she got involved in.

"So in the end it remains advisable to accept whatever comes, to behave like an inert mass even if one feels oneself being swept away, not to be lured into a single unneccesary step, to regard others with the gaze of an animal, to feel no remorse, in short to crush with one's own hand any ghost of life that subsists, that is, to intensify the final quiet of the grave still further and let nothing beyond that endure." ---Franz Kafka, Resolutions

Re: Trump

His rise to office is symptomatic of a senescent system people are rebelling against, which is nice, but it's a shame their reaction has been to elect an impetuous manchild with no power over his own caprices to a high office of responsibility within our social infrastructure which gives him power over bombs and other nasty things.

I think Trump has no idea what he is doing.

Re: Trump

I'm embarrassed and very uneasy with the election of trump. HRC had nearly 3 million more votes than him. People who have followed him due to his seeming un-pc rebelliousness are perhaps choosing to ignore the apparent warning signs of his misogynystic, racist, homophobic etc. behavior. Or they simply don't care.
I'm waiting for the Russian hacking thing to gain more traction, and ultimately lead to revelations of trump's ties (and inherent favoritism) with Russia.

Dare I fail to mention, the House and Senate control by republicans is equally, if not more, important and frightening, and dangerous to the advances made in the last few years in regard to social justice and equality, as well as in countless other areas of policy foreign and domestic.

Re: Trump

Give me an example of Trump's homophobia, please. For a misogynist, he's certainly surrounded by lovely women and doesn't seem to mind. I suspect the average celebrity or rock star--or politician--is more 'misogynistic' than Trump. Racist? Trump reached out to the black community in an authentic reasonable way; but the hysteria of his opponents refuse to address specifics, just slogans.

Bad Intel led us into the Iraq war; do we really want to rush into a new cold war with Russia? The Russian 'hack' is small potatoes except to neo-Liberals and foolish Cold War Warriors like the deluded John McCain and his pal Lindsey Graham who still beat the drums of war...war with Russia. (I'm too old to fight but not cynical enough to cheer on the young men who would die in such a renewed conflict. Leave that to McCain and his ilk.)
And who uses 'password' as a password? Only an idiot. That so-called 'hack' involved the skill of a five year old.

Obama has done his mischief at the last possible moment. So have the Trump haters on both sides.

Trump might just be the lone voice of sanity in this.

It's amazing how blindly people forgive Clinton for the viper's nest she turned Libya into.

Re: Trump

I don't agree with John McCain's politics (to say the least), but he does at least at times instantiate signs of honour, humility and responsibility, which I have never seen from Trump. Needless to say, Trump's comments on McCain's capture were disgusting. I try not to dwell on Trump's sexism or racism too much. The identity politics conversation gets in the way of the more terrifying fact that a man with zero intelligence, self-discipline, empathy or feeling of personal responsibility has been given an office of colossal global influence.

I'm not a big believer in evil, but the related characteristics and emotional dispositions of unbridled self-interest at the expense of absolutely all others, ignorance above intelligence, retribution over compassion, and joy in the misfortune of others are all displayed by Trump in abundance. I'm not a bleeding heart liberal, but it's honestly hard to think of a human being less fit for this job role and what it entails. He's a legit 100% #### human being by every measure, and the ineffectual yet at times morally admirable Obama will be looked back on fondly by history in comparison to both his almost impossibly bad predecessor and successor.

Re: Trump

James, the Office has been held by at least a dozen individuals more 'evil' than Trump. But surely you jest?

There is such a thing as intelligent compassion. I'm betting Trump has it.

Re: Trump

I didn't say he was the most evil man to be elected president. I said he's the type of personality that should absolutely at all costs not be allowed a position of supreme authority. I say this based on his seemingly complete lack of compassion, intelligence and sense of responsibility for the well being of his impending subjects.

Even the supposedly 'anti-PC' stance was something bestowed upon him by others. He has no ideology beyond intense self-interest, and most of his voters will feel conned when his monkey gibberish rhetoric fails to materialise as policy.

Re: Trump

Trump might turn out to be a disaster. Or a savior. Or a mediocrity like Obama.
But he was the only sane choice and I'm down with it. Let it roll.

As far as compassion goes, I'm not big on extending it to people who want my head. It may be ugly but its the only one I got.
