TLO Downloads Section

The Downloads (Menu-->Media-->Downloads) area has been a feature at TLO for quite some time. Previously, it has been utilized primarily as a manner for administrators to make files accessible for download by members. However, did you realize that any member can upload files for others to download?

THE NIGHTMARE NETWORK - View Profile: Nemonymous@@AMEPARAM@@View Profile: Nemonymous</title>@@AMEPARAM@@Nemonymous has been the first non-administrator to utilize this feature, and now we can all enjoy his wonderful audio readings. I encourage other members to share files in this manner, as long as the content remains legal and non-offensive. I realize the latter requirement is subjective, therefore if in doubt please ask for permission.

The following file formats are currently accommodated: avi, bkc, bmp, doc, email, gif, jpe, jpeg, jpg, mov, mp3, pdf, png, psd, rar, txt, wma, wmv and zip. If you wish to upload a file format not yet included, contact me directly to discuss inclusion.

As a clarification to anyone that might submit material to Downloads, please do not upload material which would create a copyright violation. TLO was shut down and deleted from a previous Host Service Provider for allowing streamed access to commercial MP3 files, even though they were not being made available for download and distribution. I innocently thought that I was performing the same role as a private radio station, but the media giants have bullied strong regulations into place which outlaw such acts. Material uploaded to TLO which is protected by copyright will be promptly removed and a warning will be issued to the member. Again, if in doubt - inquire prior to uploading.

As a clarification, THE NIGHTMARE NETWORK - View Profile: Nemonymous@@AMEPARAM@@View Profile: Nemonymous</title>@@AMEPARAM@@Nemonymous contacted me regarding his upload of MELTDOWN, which he had from the outset had foresight enough to provide a warning that the piece may be offensive to some members. As a point of clarificiation, I offer a portion of my response below.

I further reserve the right to reverse or even contradict my decisions regarding content. My ultimate goal is to be fair and allow the free expression of members, as long as it does not harm or greatly offend others. There is a balance to be reconciled between freedom and order, of course.
