Sadly, this is the only way to change anything nowadays, and only way to really deal with modern conservatives... and yet, it is less likely than ever, for all the posturing to the contrary.

I disagree. For a long time it has been an unspoken assumption in American culture that the more offensive a view or statement is the more virtuous one is in expressing it, because = 'Freedom of Speech'. When Milo Yiannopoulos praises the US for 'having a tradition of freedom of speech Europe has never had' he is not referring to actual censorship laws - as far as I know laws in the UK are very similar to the US - but to that attitude.

Where are these quasi-fascists? Like five years back some people here may have been fans of Land's work when it was part of the whole Speculative Realist vogue but I really doubt any of them were fascists. Save for a certain troll with multiple animal themed accounts we've never had anything approaching fascism.

You would just end up with something like Adorno and Horkheimer's Kulturindustrie with a little more of a focus on architecture.

Re: Absences and Inhumanity: Six Works of Abstract Horror

There was another person banned for extremist statements months ago. He was only here a couple of days.
One current member has fairly extreme views on race but generally keeps quiet about it.

That's three people and I have suspected others but it would be unfair to draw conclusions.

I never want a revolution. It sets a bad precedence for resorting to violence. If you work hard to get things done through the right channels, you won't have the consequences of violence to deal with, an inevitable backlash.

"One current member has fairly extreme views on race but generally keeps quiet about it."

If you are referring to the "Human Race," in light of the current state of the biosphere including species extinction and climate change, I fear that I too am developing some rather extreme views about them.

Re: Absences and Inhumanity: Six Works of Abstract Horror

When I first joined there were a lot of (embarrassing) appeals to authority in the form of sharing right-wing populist YouTube vloggers' videos, but most of the weird racism from the last two years or so was from one person with twenty different accounts. I admit to remembering that one other regular would be like 'Sounds about right to me. You tell the snowflakes!' every time such thoughts were posted, but I don't think people should be banned for extreme views.

The reason I agreed with the banning of the multi-account racist was because of how he treated other members. I think extreme and controversial views should be tolerated or even expected because this is a forum dedicated to a man with extreme and controversial views.

Forgot about him, he also got banned. That makes four members. Remember that two of them is the reason that registering has been blocked for so many months.

Re: Absences and Inhumanity: Six Works of Abstract Horror

Various groups have been labelled Alt-Left and they tend to sensibly reject it because it's always other leftists labelling them that to tar them by association with Alt-Right. A frequent target is brocialists.

Yeah, I always have a good laugh when I see people whingeing on Facebook about how TLO is crawling with Alt-Right neo-Nazi types. As I've said before, you can literally count the number of such people on one hand.

Although to be fair to that guy who got banned for posting nothing but anti-religion rants, maybe he didn't know the guy in the anti-religion videos was a nationalist?
