Happy Birthday to Thomas Ligotti

Today is the birthdate of Thomas Ligotti.
As has become the custom, I would like wish a "Happy" Birthday to Tom, and quote a poem of his, which is not wholly appropriate on the birthday of one who is living. But then again, the occasion seems to call for a skewed approach!
Quote
Even after a person
is gone from this world,
people often tend
to remember birthdays.

They say: today is
the birthday of someone
who would have been
so many years old.

So just in case you're
not around next year:
happy birthday.

Re: Happy Birthday to Thomas Ligotti

i'll quote Bierce on this for now:

BIRTH, n. The first and direst of all disasters. As to the nature of it there appears to be no uniformity. Castor and Pollux were born from the egg. Pallas came out of a skull. Galatea was once a block of stone. Peresilis, who wrote in the tenth century, avers that he grew up out of the ground where a priest had spilled holy water. It is known that Arimaxus was derived from a hole in the earth, made by a stroke of lightning. Leucomedon was the son of a cavern in Mount Aetna, and I have myself seen a man come out of a wine cellar.
so, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOM!!!!!

(Dictated while taking a stroll) I have come to realizewhat a superbly contrived marionette man is. Though without strings attached, one can strut, jump, hop and, moreover, utter words, an elaborately made puppet! Who knows? At the Bon season next year, I may be a new dead invited to the Bon festival. What an evanescent world! This truth keeps slipping off our minds.

Happy birthday to YellowJester.

"The yellow jester does not play
But gently pulls the strings.
He smiles as the puppets dance

In the court of the crimson king.

My very best wishes to you, Tom, on your birthday. We all look forward to the peerless grim visions you have yet to unleash upon this somnambulistic world.

Warmest Regards,
Richard Gavin

Re: Happy Birthday to Thomas Ligotti

Tom, I'm going to borrow a few words from the poet Cecco Angiolieri to say, with admiration, that if you were fire, you would burn the world; if you were wind, you would thrash it; if you were water, you would drown it; and if you were God, you would hurl it into the deep. Happy birthday, and congratulations on the imminent release of Teatro Grottesco in paperback!

Cheers, Mr. Ligotti. Here's to many more years in a career of nightmares! How strange that you should keep us in anxious anticipation with your upcoming projects (The Conspiracy Against the Human Race, The Nightmare Factory Vol. 2 graphic novel), when it is you who should be gifted this day.

Re: Happy Birthday to Thomas Ligotti

AN IMAGINARY BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR THOMAS LIGOTTI:

Where: An abandoned theatre near the edge of town. Directions are not given. However, finding it shouldn't be a problem. After all, you've been there before.

When: July 9th at dusk ... or is it dawn?

In attendance: All the members of TLO, the doomed characters from his stories, and of course, the guest of honor, Mr. Ligotti.

Party decorations provided by: The Quine Organization.

Party favors and prizes provided by: The Red Tower.

Music provided by: Current 93

Entertainment provided by: The Showman, The Mirocaw Clown Troupe and the Teatro Grotesco.

Birthday cake provided by: Miss Plarr. Upon the cake, in hurried sugary letters , the icing reads, "No one recovers from the disease of being born, a deadly wound if there ever was one." -- E. M. Cioran

Happy Birthday, Ligotti!

Doesn't everybody hate their own birthday, and would rather that it passed in silence?
