Your Favorite Cover Songs

I really love Bathory's cover of Motorhead's "Ace of Spades". Really captures the melancholy and destruction that compliments that kind of lifestyle.

Your fall should be like the fall of mountains. But I was before mountains. I was in the beginning, and shall be forever. The first and the last. The world come full circle. I am not the wheel. I am the hand that turns the wheel. I am Time, the Destroyer. I was the wind and the stars before this. Before planets. Before heaven and hell. And when all is done, I will be wind again, to blow this world as dust back into endless space. To me the coming and going of Man is as nothing.

The Byrds existed to make Bob Dylan sound good (as well as invent Country Rock)

What are you talking about? Dylan himself sounds good!
This might be my favorite Dylan cover:

Re: Your Favorite Cover Songs

This brilliant vocal always conjures up (for me) the image of a 70 year old black sharecropper who had once studied opera in his youth before finding work doing Elvis demos.
The biggest names in showbiz had recorded this song with no great results. Proby said the problem was that the song was too pretty. "I reckoned I could take it down a peg or two." This cover is, I think, as definitive as Bobby Hatfield's covers of "Unchained Melody" and "Ebb Tide."

As Tom Waits remarked, "No one has done a good version of that song since P. J. Proby.
