Better to be an animal than a man an insect than an animal, a plant than an insect, and so on.
Salvation? Whatever diminishes the kingdom of consciousness and compromises its supremacy.

Re: Pessimistic Passage of the Day...

In the darkness of the terrorist attacks in Paris:

"Ideologies were invented only to give luster to the leftover barbarism which has
survived down through the ages, to cover up the murderous tendencies common to all men.Today we kill in the name of something, we no longer dare
do so spontaneously; so that the very executioners must invoke motives..."

Re: Pessimistic Passage of the Day...

.

« Entre les lèvres du baiser / La vitre de la solitude »

('Les frontières de l'amour', Roger Gilbert-Lecomte)

« Between two mouths in a kiss / Windowglass »

(‘The Borders of Love’; translation by David Rattray)

If you haven't read 'the incredible shrinking man', as Gerrit Lansing calls Gilbert-Lecomte—do! If you don't know French, David's translation (controversial because oft departing from the literal) was a longtime labor of love—get Black Mirror from Station Hill Press (alternatively, the text can be filched at Scribd, though without the French originals en face).

'Nicolaitanism' from 'Mystic Tetanus'—

Think, outcast, how the flesh can crawl
In the night of the senses, though
Nothing is real except to flow
In the crystal stream of soul.

To quell the senses I incline
Still, like old Nicholas, to hold
With heresies damned sevenfold:
To burn in Hell is to refine.

So let not sterile abstinence
But the lye of incontinence
Take all—that you, my soul, my higher

Self may escape the lake of fire
I want to flame out in a flood
Of crime, a cloud of sperm and blood.

.

This is my first post here. I've gotten a lot out of this site since I wandered in about a week ago. I'd read some Emil Cioran, but I guess I wasn't gloomy enough to get into it—in insomnia yet again this week, however, it's vertiginous (though I must say that much of it doesn't 'work' in translation, as Heidegger and Nietzsche often don't).

Greetings from Vredecuronia! It's a dark delight to have found this forum.

Re: Pessimistic Passage of the Day...

The act of procreation and anything that has any relation to it is so disgusting that human beings would soon die out if there were no pretty faces and sensuous dispositions.

Re: Pessimistic Passage of the Day...

A while back someone noted that a particular passage was not exactly pessimistic. Gave that some thought. Is it about choice, chance... ability, the possibility of turning away from so hideous an undertaking?

Donald Trump has taken to explaining his positions, whether a 'beautiful' wall or the rejection of ostensible baby jihadis, with 'we have no choice'. The most revealing little phrase about his beady little brain.

This is a section from Analytic Psychology by Gerrit Lansing --

GOD IN HIS IGNORANCE IS THE FATHER OF LIES

It can't be called 'pessimistic', I guess, but one look down into that 'human sink'...

Re: Pessimistic Passage of the Day...

This very second has vanished forever, lost in the anonymous mass of the irrevocable. It will never return. I suffer from this, and I do not. Everything is unique-and insignificant.
