Waltzing with a puppet

In my dream, I was waltzing with a female puppet, a large one, to the sound of no music at all. I always look for possible sources for the images in my dream. I think in this case it was the TL story “The Clown Puppet” which I had recently read. So this dream fully qualifies as a “Ligottian dream”. As I said I was waltzing with that flabby partner with her arms around my neck, hanging from me rather than dancing. I was turning in circles. It appeared to me the most sensible thing to do in order to free myself from that horrid embrace. The puppet had her eyes fixed on me. Her visage was almost expressionless, maybe there it was the trace of a sly smile. So we carry on spinning and we went out to a balcony, my auntie’s balcony, by the way. Then I decided it was the lesser evil to jump off the balcony, down to the street, five storeys below. Anything but the horror in the waltz.

The funny thing about this dream, no really interesting on any other ground, was the deep happiness that invaded me when I found the solution to my trial. I think it was then when for the first time I smiled back to my lady. My heart began pounding, (I do not know if actual pounding or only in my dream) and I began to entertain a hope; perhaps it wouldn’t be necessary to throw myself into the abyss, perhaps a merciful heart attack would finish everything. Then I woke up with a smile in my lips and no puppet around, thankfully.
