Re: Video Games

As of now the official release date is October 4 2011, this seems like an torturously long time to wait for- http://www.batmanarkhamcity.com/us/index.html

Especially with actual screen captures like these.

Eidos don't seem to be heavily involved this time, this worries me somewhat. However, given that Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy both have such faith in the project has to mean something.

Re: Video Games

this is something which I can recommend everyone on the board here; in my opinion very unique with the best storyline I ever experienced in a game

Planescape: Torment

Planescape: Torment is primarily story-driven; combat is given less prominence than in most contemporary role-playing games. The protagonist, known as The Nameless One, is an immortal who has lived many lives but has forgotten all about them, even forgetting his own name. The game focuses on his journey throughout the city of Sigil and other planes to reclaim his memories of these previous lives. Several characters in the game may join The Nameless One on his journey, and most of these characters have encountered him in the past.

The game was not a significant commercial success but received widespread critical praise and has since become a cult classic. It was lauded for its immersive dialogue, for the dark and relatively obscure Planescape setting, and for the protagonist's unique persona, which shirked many characteristics of traditional role-playing games. It was considered by many video game journalists to be the best role-playing game (RPG) of 1999, and continues to receive attention long after its release.

here are some reviews on it:

ive just spotted that 'With Strength I Burn' wrote a post on it quite a while ago:

Planescape: Torment - THE NIGHTMARE NETWORK

(Dictated while taking a stroll) I have come to realizewhat a superbly contrived marionette man is. Though without strings attached, one can strut, jump, hop and, moreover, utter words, an elaborately made puppet! Who knows? At the Bon season next year, I may be a new dead invited to the Bon festival. What an evanescent world! This truth keeps slipping off our minds.

Re: Video Games

The "Torment" game by Plane-Scape does seem to have an excellent story line. I know a lot of games these days put a lot of emphasis on graphics and online functionality (which is good too of course), but you can't beat an immersive and imaginative story line like this one to make a game really stand out from the crowd.

Just watched the trailer video again, I love the voice over.

Re: Video Games

"His name is Garcia Hotspur, hunter of demons, and his wrath will bring hell to its knees."

Shadows of the Damned : EA : Grasshopper Manufacture

This came out in the summer and I've just finished playing it. I would say it's more along the lines of a comedy-style horror. Lots of action, some puzzles (not too challenging though) and on the whole very entertaining.

I always find it interesting to see how other people picture Hell and its inhabitants, and this is certainly an imaginative view with some clever ideas.

This game is now downloading to my computer for free, compliments of an Nvidia coupon when I configured one of their graphics cards in a recent computer build. The game is getting rave reviews and it should look pretty sweet on my new rig. It should be a nice day to fire up this game and roast the traditional Tofurkey feast!
