Ligotti-Krishnamutti - sympathetic organisms?
Mind not my silly subject tittle,
I recently started to know more about this (thinker/philospher-I really don“t know how to call him) man U.G.KRISHNAMURTI and didn“t even need to finish a book (by the way-all of them are free) to find similarities with Ligotti. One short story (Severini) a poem (I have a special plan for this world) and some songs from the UNHOLY CITY (Specially "nobody is anybody") seem to expose some of his principles.I won“t point them out since I know only a little of KRISHNAMURTI“s demolishing theories. But anyone who knows his ideas, please reply to this topic and help me out. PS:There goes three samples from the man“s ideas (do you feel the Ligottian flavor?) "There is no self, there is no I, there is no spirit, there is no soul, and there is no mind. That knocks off the whole list, and you have no way of finding out what you are left with." "We are no different from, nor are we created for any grander purpose than, the mosquito that is sucking your blood." "You may not agree with me, and brush this aside as absurd and nonsense. But there is no such thing as a new experience. There is nothing new at all." From: "Thought is your enemy"

U.G. is indeed a fascinating character, isn't he?
If you haven't read Tom's story from the 999 collection, titled "The Shadow, The Darkness," then you should try to do so posthaste, since it is Tom's direct homage to, or riff on (or whatever you want to call it), U.G.'s ideas. He (Tom) has openly acknowledged this. So I'm guessing you might find said story to be quite interesting. Just FYI, one of its most explicit Krishnamurtian aspects is the fact that one of the central characters experiences complete enlightenment by accident, and as with U.G. and his real-life enlightenment, the character later describes the experience as a catastrophe (although I can't recall at the moment whether he uses that precise word). Thanks for pointing out other places in the Ligottian oeuvre where U.G.'s influence can be felt. I'll have to reread those stories and other items with this in mind.

By his books (Krishnamurti's) being free you mean they are available online in PDF (or other) format? Do you have some links?

Yes, Matt he is a very intersting organism.Mostly because he denies concepts and beliefs that most people would kill or die for.
Yes, Karnos. There is a website in which you can read some of his books (conversations with the man, in fact).Go here: http://www.well.com/user/jct/

Hi. I'm in the middle of reading up on U.G. Krishnamurti. If you can find a guy named David Quinn, he's posted a fairly cogent opinion of the man online. Google it, them? I'll have to reread "The Shadow, The Darkness." Maybe there will always be gurus, there will always be Anti-gurus. If there were no gurus, and people seeking them, U.G. would starve.

I know that phrase. Noel Pratt! You called M. Gira's The Body Haters the musical equivalent of Ligotti's trancendent darkness. Ha!
P.S. I must be a nutter to remember that.

What phrase do you know? Yeah, Gira's book The Consumer has been quite a find for me too.

I recognised "endarkenment" from one of your reviews.
