Re: NecronomiCon Providence 2013

I am thinking about going. It would be cool if a bunch of Ligotti fanatics came.

Re: NecronomiCon Providence 2013

I'm sure there will be plenty of Ligotti fans present at NecronomiCon Providence, including many of the contributors to the upcoming Ligotti tribute anthology, The Grimscribe's Puppets.

I suspect this event will be the closest TLO ever comes to that oft-fantasized "LigottiCon".

A few of us can get together in some quiet corner and have our own covert, unofficial LigottiCon.

I think a TLO meet-up is a must. When the day is drawing nigh, let's make a thread and make it happen. I promise I won't irritate you all, at least not too much. First round is on me, let's rock.

And yes, I managed to convince my wife of the necessity of this cross-country trip. She may come to Providence with me, although not for the convention. If there are any other "cosmic-horror widows" attending, maybe they can all go see a Red Sox game or something.

To be a true LigottiCon, it would have to be something akin to the "physical-metaphysical excursion" taken by the characters in "The Shadow, the Darkness"...to "a nowhere region of the country, of the world in fact..."

Is Providence a "nowhere region of the country"? Hardly! ;)

Nope, LigottiCon would have to take place in someplace more wretched. My little Rustbelt hellhole would serve nicely, actually. Any true LigottiCon would have to be in a crummy little motel in a crummy little town. Anything else would be inappropriate.

Re: NecronomiCon Providence 2013

A wonderful prelude to ye NecronomiCon is happening over ye week-end of May 3rd thru May 5th: The H. P. Lovecraft Film Festival & Cthulhu Con, in Portland, Oregon. Niels, who is the main man organizing NecronomiCon Providence, will be attending, as will many of the people attending. Mike Davis, who brings us ye Lovecraft eZine, will be there--it will be his first convention ever! S. T. Joshi doesn't have choir practice and so he will be able to attend this year. & that notorious bEASTie lad, Joe Pulver, is being flown from Berlin to participate. Fine writers like Nick Mamatas and Cody Goodfellow will be reading from their works. Ye H. P. Lovecraft Historical Society will be presenting a live radio drama of "At the Mountains of Madness." It's going to be an awesome Lovecraftian gathering! Be there or be non-Euclidean.

"We work in the dark -- we do what we can -- we give what we have. Our doubt is our passion and our passion is our task. The rest is the madness of art."
--Henry James (1843-1916)

I'm looking forward to both -- Portland, and Providence!
