Just re-watched, on YouTube, the 1963 film of Pinter’s THE CARETAKER (with Alan Bates, Donald Pleasance and Robert Shaw) - and it is confirmed as one on my top ten films ever! Utterly compelling, dark, seedy and absurdist, with great acting. One thing struck me, the Shaw character is the spitting image of the current politician Bernard Jenkin, and the Pleasance character’s assumed name is Bernard Jenkins!
