Favourite Ligotti Story

At the moment, my favorite Ligotti story is "The Last Feast of the Harlequin"—not because of its connection to Lovecraft, but because it resonated deeply with my own life and genuinely terrified me. On the other hand, I find the way Ligotti writes about gods and cults remarkably elegant.

But I like most of the stories I have read by Ligotti. Very intense writing and vision. Pure art. No ego, no pretension, no superficial catering.

The same thing happens to me. Now that you mention it, I think I'll have to reread Nethescurial. I remember it unsettled me so much that I barely remember anything about it.

Honorable mention to beautiful "The Shadow at the Bottom of the World", "The Lost Art of Twilight", and "The Bungalow House" (... and to others!!) I like the "The Bungalow House" a lot, and I love Ligotti's humor; but the ending is really really dark. Ligotti's most depressing story??

Ligotti's characters often have great and wonderful names! Reminds me of Ingmar Bergman's creative use of names. Vaguely real, aristocratic, and blended with dream.
