New Profile Layout & Picture Option

I have been modifying the layout of the member profile page. This will likely be tweaked in time, but the new layout features a full size avatar image and re-integrates profile pictures. The profile picture is a secondary image representing the member as an option. You can set up your profile picture at User-->Edit Profile-->Edit Profile Picture. The images are limited to 300x200, in order to maintain layout aesthetics, but I believe the upload process should downsize images of higher resolutions.

I like the new larger avatar. But, if I may suggest a further improvement, I think it might be useful if the "latest threads" feature (at the bottom of the profile page) listed more than ten threads. If, for example, I wished to take another look at one of Ligeia's older art threads, it would be convenient to find it via her profile page.

I will look into this suggestion. Otherwise, are you aware that you can display all Posts and Threads of said user by selecting these options within the statistics tab on their profile page? Optionally, you can use the Search-->Advanced Search menu option and Search by User Name. A drop-down box below the User Name field allows you to choose Posts or Threads.

I wasn't even aware that there was a statistics tab on the profile pages. Where's the hanging-my-head-in-shame smiley when I need it?

I've now found the statistics tab -- and find (O Dr B) that it contains all that you say and more.

But I find that the box that used to be on the right hand side near the top (the box that includes album and friend details, the names of recent visitors to the profile page, etc.) has slipped down to the bottom, where it overlaps with the list of latest threads. Surely, that can't be right. Or is it?

I could not see what you spoke of until I tested the page with Internet Explorer and Opera. How long has it been like this? The layout is totally botched, though it looks fine in FireFox. I turned off a number of page modifications, to no avail. I will look into this closer tonight.

I don't think that it can have been that way for more than a day or two. I noticed it for the first time this morning, and I look at profiles (mine and other people's) quite frequently.

Now that I check this morning, FireFox has the botched layout in effect. I am not sure what I did to create this situation. Can anyone tell me when this first occurred? This will help me determine the source of the problem.

I'm pretty sure that it didn't display thus yesterday. I first noticed it just before writing the post in which I drew it to your attention.

I use Opera 9.27. Same thing here, Dr. B - what was to the right of my avatar (friends, Arcade results, last 10 visitors to my profile et cetera) has now sunk to the bottom of the page. Yesterday everything was still all right...

Addition: the Experience has dropt from immediate view too...

It seems that I uncovered a bizarre twist of coincidence at hand with this skewed layout issue. Instead of my own meddling with the layout being the issue, it seems that the recent mysterious behavior of the YouTube code may well be the problem. I have stripped the code for past references within the Visitor Messages for now. I should be able to fix this soon, but I am not sure if I am up to the task at the moment. Figuring out that this was the issue was exhausting in itself.

The profile pages seem to be hunky dory again, apart from visitor message YouTube links taking me to the YouTube home page. The YouTube links in threads still seem to work properly although some of them display strangely.

I will look into all issues with media embedding this weekend.

Same here - Profile is okay again, but you can see only the link to a YouTube vid, not the image (Opera 9.27).
That is good, as it is how I have it set temporarily, until I can resolve the issues with YouTube embedding. It is still active within posts, though results may be inconsistent. As it is a code interpretation of a static URL, all content past and present will be at harmony once I resolve the issue.

I fixed the YouTube embedding issue which in turn cleared up the layout issue with the profile pages, as I had hoped. This one took a bit of detective work!
