A key influence in Thomas Ligotti’s text Conspiracy Against the Human Race was Norwegian philosopher Peter Wessel Zapffe, especially his essay Den Sidste Messias, translated as The Last Messiah. Zapffe’s major text Om Det Tragiske was not available as an English translation at the time Ligotti’s CATHR was published, but is due for publication by Peter Lang Group late February 2024, translated by American Philosopher Ryan L Showler with forwards written by Thomas Ligotti and David Benatar.
