THE COLLECTED SHORT STORIES OF THOMAS LIGOTTI

I own a mock-up rendering of the original cover of THE NIGHTMARE FACTORY, when it was originally titled as THE COLLECTED STORIES OF THOMAS LIGOTTI. When I asked Tom about the title change, which occurred just prior to publication, he responded as follows:

|"After settling on Collected Stories as the title of the collection, I spoke with a freelance editor the Robinson Publishing used who gave me feedback on the Teatro Grottesco stories (and previously on the whole of Noctuary). I can't remember his name, but he was a good guy with some good suggestions. One of them was to give the book a more striking title. He called me and we had a phone conversation. An old title that I had never used came to mind: New Flesh for the Nightmare Factory. This sounded too Clive Barkerish as soon as the words came out of my mouth, so I immediately shortened it to just The Nightmare Factory, not knowing that there was already a collection of poetry by this title. End of story."{br}{br}

there's a poetry collection by the name of The Nightmare Factory? hm!

anyway, I am sure that is an extremely rare collector's item right there

I initially didn't care for the title THE NIGHTMARE FACTORY; it sounded too commercial. But the more you get to know TL's work, the more appropriate the title seems. I like it now.

You have some interesting artifacts, Dr. Bantham. How you come by these items is a mystery to me. I appreciate you sharing them.
