The Ultimate Automata Video Collection

Bleak&Icy's wonderful 'Puppet Passage' thread inspired my fascination with automata. Automata are not used by Ligotti to depict his grim vision of the universe, but they can be as good at it as puppets. Moreover automata can be utterly creepy and their uncanny nature (in comparison with puppets and manikins) is best captured on films.
I thought it a good idea to create a thread at TNN which would collect some of the videos available on the net.
Here are 2 of them:

That Sandman adaptation is interesting. Some segments make me think of a few things
1:29 - Metropolis, of course
3:12 - this sounds as if this music was partly composed from a theme by Philip Glass

it's a music vid but I think it qualifies for this thread

I don't regret having used the word 'ultimate' in the title of this thread. I guess we should now include nightmarish robots and puppet and doll factories.

i also remember a beautiful scene in Russell's movie Gothic, where lord Byron has an automata playing harpsichord, but i cannot find the video :( ... seems like also Count Stembock started showing up accompanied by a doll at some point of his life...

I finally have to see that film one day. I have it on tape somewhere. I still haven't done so cause I used to think Russell makes cheesy stuff, but I changed that opinion after 'Altered States, which was brilliant 2/3 into the film.
It's funny that everyone mentions those guys with doll just a week after I watched "Lars and the Real Girl". This is a new flick (comedy:eek:) about such a person:
