The Ultimate Ligotti Collectible?

There are many curios which may come to one's attention while browsing the net. I offer the following link as one of particular interest, and hereby declare it as my singular submission within my birthday registry, if there happens to exist a member within TLO with stout financials. Given the current level of commonality I have observed between the membership and myself, I have little hopes of receiving this as a gift. Perchance to dream...

In the proceeding link, check out the last item available for manufacture to custom specifications, and envision the request as being to mimic the details of Dr. Voke's construct within "Dr. Voke and Mr. Veech". The digital recordings could even be set to quote lines from the story, or alternatively favorite Ligotti quotations in general. This is of course, another example of my fantastic pipe dreams, but a very vivid one nonetheless.

Within the darkness ahead a tall rectangle suddenly appears, like a ticket-seller's booth at a carnival. The lower part is composed of wood and the upper part of glass; its interior is lit up by an oily red glare. Slumped forward in its seat inside the booth, as if asleep, is a well-dressed dummy: nicely-fitting black jacket and vest with bright silver buttons, a white high-collar shirt with silver cufflinks, and a billowing cravat which displays a pattern of moon and stars. Because his head is forwardly inclined, the dummy's only feature of note is the black sheen of it's painted hair.
Thomas Ligotti - "Dr. Voke and Mr. Veech"

haha that would be awesome. At the derelict arcade in the redondo beach pier, they have a couple of those fortune telling machines. I love them. If there was a ligotti one, that would just be amazing.

When I was little, I remember there were lots of Russian markets in Warsaw, where you could buy such fortune telling machines (ok, they were a little bit more primitive). One has to say that people from Russia are very creative when it comes to extremely weird stuff.

I promise you, Doc B, if I become suddenly and fabulously wealthy, it shall be yours, my friend...

Really neat item, by the way!

It took a while, but I found the thread I sought...

I recently read "The Mechanical Museum" by John B. Ford and Thomas Ligotti. I'm struck by the similarity of the story's phrase "a degenerate resort town" to the quote above. As usual, no specific locale is mentioned. I think Ford and Ligotti ended up writing it as a Coney Island of the Mind, as it were. Apologies to Lawrence Ferlinghetti.

Beware, unknown! Those coins may actually be the tokens of doom!
