I’ve created an album featuring Trevor Henderson’s illustrations for Not A Speck of Light by Laird Barron. I previously shared the images in the thread I made about the book, but I thought having them in an album would make the illustrations more accessible, especially since they’re in JPG format, while the images in the thread appear as WEBP. A small difference, perhaps, but one I appreciate.
Although I don't particularly like Trevor Henderson as a person, I absolutely love his art, and he is one of the aesthetic pillars that have helped define the contemporary horror that many of us, especially younger people, enjoy. It's a shame that he hasn't had the same success as a writer. One of his biggest problems is that he knows how to illustrate and do all of that, but he doesn't know how to write. He also doesn't allow other people to write about his creations and monsters, which could have been another way for him to develop them, perhaps even through a dedicated album.
The thing is, Trevor Henderson gets very complicated about people reposting his art because he associates it with AI and data mining, and even with plagiarism. There have been occasions when he has even filed copyright complaints against YouTube channels for using his images simply because he didn't like what they said about his creature. Maybe if he had allowed people who actually know how to write to write about Siren Head, it could have achieved the kind of relevance that Slenderman had at one point.
Anyway, I'm rambling. I originally posted this in General Art Discussion, but I feel like Trevor Henderson deserves his own thread.
For what it's worth, at least with these illustrations he made for Laird Barron, there shouldn't be any problem with us having the album here, for reasons I've already verified.
