Re: A Glimpse of the Future
I only watched the first six minutes. I think they only talked to one scientist?
Everyone else was a "tech journalist" or some kind of business bro. They spit out the usual anodyne talking points in jargon-heavy sound bites. I laughed when the British reporter talked about how students will use this technology for "homework management". I'm not a Neo-Luddite. I love learning about technology, but as always, this #### is in the wrong hands - big corporations and the military-industrial complex.

Re: A Glimpse of the Future
Well, it is a video from the Forbes channel. I do believe it will be a paradigm shift. Bill Gates feels the same way, that's why he sunk 10 billion dollars into Open AI. I've already toyed with ChatGPT. It is better than Google search. I haven't yet tried the text-to-image sites, but I did download Midjourney's Discord server.
That the tech is in the wrong hands is always problematic. They make some good points later in the video. I've watched it a couple times. I skip the 8-10 minutes section.

Prompt: "Write a poem with the ideas of Thomas Ligotti in the manner of Dr. Seuss" (With the exception of the word 'naughty'- which is an inaccuracy- I love this poem.) In a world of darkness and dread, Where the living envy the dead, There lived a man named Thomas Ligotti, Whose stories were dark and quite naughty. He wrote of things that made us shiver, Of creatures that made our bones quiver, Of places where the sun never shone, And of people who were forever alone. But in this world of gloom and despair, There was a man who didn’t care, A man named Dr. Seuss, Whose rhymes were always loose. So he took Ligotti’s tales of woe, And turned them into something new, With rhymes that were silly and fun, And characters that danced in the sun. And so we have a tale to tell, Of two writers who knew their spell, One who wrote of darkness and dread, And one who turned it on its head. So if you’re feeling down and blue, Just remember this tale so true, That even in the darkest night, There’s always a bit of light.

That is simultaneously an excellent, humorous dark poem and a source of fear in itself. The implications for AI mimicking (or perhaps "seizing?") human consciousness in the very near future are terrifying.

Re: A Glimpse of the Future
That could be because there is the general tendency for happy endings in the writing that it was trained on, or because of the human intervention applied to prevent it from saying anything too outlandish, or both.
