Great news Quentin!
Any info about the content, or am I asking for too much?

Well, I don't mind giving a bit of info. There should be six stories, as follows:

The Haunted Bicycle, Zugzwang, Unimaginable Joys, The Waiting, Jellyfish Joe and The Tao of Petite Beige.

I'm not sure what order they will be in. The publisher should be sending me the proofs soon. I am told that it's the longest book they have ever published (The Haunted Bicycle is definitely a novella rather than a short story, and the others aren't that short either.)

I have also written the introduction, and the cover illustration should be based on an idea that I have discussed with the illustrator. I haven't seen it yet, though. Rainfall Books have basically given me license with this one to produce the kind of book I want to, so the result is experimental and uncompromising. I'm rather hoping that I will be vindicated by reader responses, but we shall see.

Thanks,

Some comments :

More good news! I've always thought that Mark Samuels' Black Altars on Rainfall was too short, and I was afraid it would be the case here again. Size doesn't matter as they say, but I liked most the longer stories in Morbid Tales, so I'm eager to read these!

No inside illustrations then!

The Tao of Petite Beige : I like that title....

As yet I'm not sure whether there will be inside illustrations or not. I have slightly mixed feelings about inside illustrations, but if the artist offers I think I will accept.

Thanks for your interest. I'm hoping I can still prove to the publishers that people do want to read the kind of stuff I write, so it's good to hear I'm not entirely deluded on this score.

Good to hear about Rule Dementia. Do let us know if you have any other news.

I do have other news. I received the proofs for Rule Dementia! last night, and have had a peek at the cover, with which I am pleased. The book will run to about two hundred and eighty pages, and, since I am now going through the proofs, it should not be so very long until it is released.

Cold Tonnage Books has a signed copy of The Nightmare Exhibitions listed through their website's search engine (though strangely it does not appear in the abebooks search of the same store).

Andy of Cold Tonnage actually came round my house in person for me to sign some (I forget how many) books, but I believe they soon sold out. However, Rule Dementia should, I hope, be a much superior production all round. I AM expecting it to sell out quite quickly, and I AM expecting it to get good responses from readers and reviewers. Pride comes before a fall, they say, but I am ready.

I bought the signed copy and I am waiting for it to arrive shortly. There was an unsigned copy available as well, which I have on a temporary reserve for ElHI. However, I have had trouble reaching him by email. If I recall correctly, he is on an extended tour of oceanic floor mapping somewhere in the big blue sea. I hope he brought along a few good books.

Here's a preemptive congratulations on the publication of the new book, Quentin. I hope it does as well for you as you're expecting it to.
