Re: D.F. Lewis
You will beat it, Des. Even the stats are on your side. Humor can be your greatest ally.
When I was 27 I was given 6 mos. to live. A massive abdominal high grade malignancy. I finally found a surgeon, one Imre Magoss, who with his buddy Staubitz, pioneered the retroperitoneal node dissection, who was willing to operate. A great guy, a Hungarian, with an impressive accent that would give Peter Lorre shivers; he had been a battle surgeon in WW2 for the Allies. About a week after the operation, we were sitting in his office smoking Balkan Sobranies and drinking coffee (Try that today in a hospital; I was still in a wheelchair but my wife kept me supplied with those wonderful tins of Turkish cigarettes) and I asked him about Staubitx whom I had only seen once, right before the operation. In the end, Magoss had performed the operation without him but with a very impressive team. Imre had a wolfish sense of humor--one of the reasons we became friends--and I happened to ask what became of the other surgeon. He smiled and with that slow sinister accent said, "He had a bad back. He saw your X-rays and retired." A wonderful human being. I've always admired those who can laugh in the teeth of the gun. I wish you all the best, my friend. I'm betting you'll be fine.

All best, Des. My father was diagnosed with colon cancer a year and a half back, and he is now cancer free. Sending good thoughts your way. Please keep us posted on your progress.

Re: D.F. Lewis
Hi Des. Sorry to hear about the bad news.
A few years ago I bought "The last balcony" directly from you. Last night I picked it up from the shelf and read "Left foot (2)" again. It's one of the few stories in my book shelf that I keep coming back to it. Want to thank you for the book and wish you a fast recovery.

Re: D.F. Lewis
I am considering appointing current reviewers or would-be reviewers to the Dreamcatcher Real-Time Review site under the Wordpress ‘Author’ definition pasted below.
If you are interested in applying, please first take a look at the site at www.nemonymous.com and the type of literature normally treated to this style of real-time reviews, i.e. by means of dated ‘comment streams’ to individual posts about each book as it is read by the ‘Author’. It would be up to each ‘Author’ how they obtain the books for their own real-time reviews upon the above site. No compensation from me, just my gratitude and the honour of being a Dreamcatcher review ‘Author’! It is my decision as ‘Administrator’ about who shall become and then remain as review ‘Authors’. Although ‘Authors’ will be free to upload their reviews as and when they conduct one, I reserve the right to delete it or suggest editing at my discretion. However, I anticipate such an eventuality to be very unlikely. <<Wordpress ‘Author’: An Author can create, edit, publish, and delete only *their own* posts, as well as upload files and images. Authors do not have access to create, modify, or delete pages, nor can they modify posts by other users. Authors can edit comments made on their posts.>>

Re: D.F. Lewis
Things are going as well as hoped and expected regarding my health problems I mentioned above, a month or two ago. Hopefully no further need of news bulletins here about it.
Thanks for the support and encouragement.

Great news. Hang in there!

Your fall should be like the fall of mountains. But I was before mountains. I was in the beginning, and shall be forever. The first and the last. The world come full circle. I am not the wheel. I am the hand that turns the wheel. I am Time, the Destroyer. I was the wind and the stars before this. Before planets. Before heaven and hell. And when all is done, I will be wind again, to blow this world as dust back into endless space. To me the coming and going of Man is as nothing.
