Riddle of "corpse bride" draws crowds

check out this link: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20051219/...o_mannequin_dc
I'm telling you if you give any doll/mannequin realistic human eyes you are going have something that freaks people out...

Re: Riddle of "corpse bride" draws crowds

Reggie told me to tell you that he can't imagine why he scares you. Why don't you like him? He likes you. [strike:e240e266d5]And he also mentioned that he's coming to see you real soon. Don't forget to keep the closet shut.[/strike:e240e266d5]

Seriously though [But I am being serious, Jono], I share your horror of all such inanimate creatures created in our likeness, KP. Among other things, they remind me that my life is woefully finite. They're not unlike little skeletons. Ventriloquist dummies are the most vile of the dummy lot. I'm afraid they know too much every time I gaze into the black vacuums of their shining eyes.

Ok, Ligotti I ain't. But you know what I mean about the cruel little critters--right?

"Thomas Ligotti is a master of a different order, practically a different species. He probably couldn’t fake it if he tried, and he never tries. He writes like horror incarnate.”

Re: Riddle of "corpse bride" draws crowds

While I am not as creeped out by dolls and other mannikins as others (hi Reggie!) I do see the creepiness inherent.

On the other hand, Skeletons, as Doc L knows, DO get me. Always have. Mostly due to a faulty prop in a spookhouse ride when I was about 5 years old, where a skeleton hand snagged my shirt. Boy, that really sucked.

"The scientists of today think deeply instead of clearly. One must be sane to think clearly, but one can think deeply and be quite insane."

Re: Riddle of "corpse bride" draws crowds

hahahaha...that would suck esp. as a little kid...i have always had a fear of anything with disturbing eyes...when i was very very young i was actually afraid of the abominable snowman in Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer because of its "google-eyes"...
