Re: Ligotti Interview Question

William S. Burroughs: "The title means exactly what the words say: NAKED Lunch - a frozen moment when everyone sees what is on the end of every fork."

(This is a burger that you may want to eat with a fork, a looong fork, if you can eat it at all.)

Thus explaining that ancient proverb; that he who eats with Thomas Ligotti should have a long fork.

Re: Ligotti Interview Question

I refer those who are hungry for the truth to an earlier thread.
The Thomas Ligotti Recipe Book - THE NIGHTMARE NETWORK

"What does it mean to be alive except to court disaster and suffering at every moment?"

Tibet: Carnivals?
Ligotti: Ceremonies for initiating children into the cult of the sinister.
Tibet: Gas stations?
Ligotti: Nothing to say about gas stations as such, although I've always responded to the smell of gasoline as if it were a kind of perfume.

Re: Ligotti Interview Question

I apologize for derailing this thought-provoking thread with my nonsense.

I'd be too dumbstruck to ask a serious question if I ever met him.

Call me crazy, but I'm kind of curious about his love life, past present and future...

Re: Ligotti Interview Question

Er, I don't think it's fair to ask personal questions in an interview of this kind. But I'd love to ask a question such as: There are very few valid consensual sexual relationships in your stories, though there are many whose nature is exploitative or abusive. Do you feel that relatively few valid consensual sexual relationships exist in the world at large?

Re: Ligotti Interview Question

In a thread from 2007 called notes, YellowJester wrote:

Quote
I asked Dr. Bantham, the administrator of TLO, to send an announcement of the book's [CATHR's] appearance on this site to a SPD [Schizoid Personality Disorder] newsgroup.
That old thread contains a fairly lengthy back-and-forth between YellowJester and turnip on the subject of SPD. I would ask TL why he wished to have the appearance of CATHR announced on a SPD site. Why did he think CATHR would be of particular interest to those with this "disorder"? Basically, I'd just like for him to expand on his interest in SPD in general, and on its possible relation to his own work.

I'd also like to ask him if he knows of any good remedies for IBS (which he has mentioned in interviews). If he does know of any remedies, will we see him on a late-night infomercial any time soon?

Re: Ligotti Interview Question

Wikipedia sez:
Quote
Schizoid personality disorder (SPD) is a personality disorder characterized by a lack of interest in social relationships, a tendency towards a solitary lifestyle, secretiveness, emotional coldness, and apathy.
that sounds like it fits a lot of healthy indifferent introvert types, many of whom may enjoy TCATHR more than peers that don't fit that very vague description.

Re: Ligotti Interview Question

On a related thread to gveranon's and DoktorH's comments:

http://www.ligotti.net/showthread.ph...c+test+special

It gets interesting on page 2 and even has a fun game to play.
