Abner Jay was many things: one-man band, the self-professed 'last of the minstrel singers', a true outsider artist, and a genuine original. Sadly obscure, I think TLO might prove an appreciative audience; his best-known song, 'I'm So Depressed', sounds like the 'Gloomy Sunday' of blues music, and gets my vote as one of the most melancholy tunes of all time.
