What's missing from my collection?

I'm someone who's interested in reading most (if not all) of Ligotti's fiction although I am not a collector as such. I have read "Teatro Grottesco", "Noctury", "Songs of a Dead Dreamer", "Grimscribe" & "My Work is Not Yet Done (Three tales of corporate horror)". So far as I am aware, there is no overlap in any of these collections.

It seems to me that some of the other collections collect pieces previously published in other collections? But are there any glaring omissions in my collection?

I know I am yet to read "The Spectral Link"...

Re: What's missing from my collection?

Those are really the core of Ligotti's work as far as short fiction is concerned. If anything you'd be missing Death Poems and The Agonizing Resurrection of Victor Frankenstein (last I checked both were sold out, but available for kindle.) Plus The Conspiracy Against the Human Race, which is non-fiction, really.

Some of the rare stuff can be found in, of all places, youtube. Namely recordings of his poems "I have a special plan for this world" (no relation to the same-titled story in MWINYD) and "this degenerate little town", both of which I'd say are essential, perhaps even quintessential Ligotti pieces.

With all that there's still stuff to look after, but sadly it's all in the realm of the collectors market: old zines with a tale or two that haven't been reprinted anywhere, or the odd story found in rare out-of-print anthologies, all commanding high prices whenever a copy pops up somewhere.

Check out the "Your shelf of Ligotti" thread to see what some of these look like (at least the spines...).

Don't forget the all Ligotti issue of Crypt of Cthulhu. Some rare stuff in that one.

I was desperate to find and read "Allan & Adelaide: An Arabesque," but couldn't locate a copy. Would gladly have purchased the Crypt of Cthulhu Ligotti edition, but no luck in my search.

Through Googling the title, I found that someone had scanned the entire issue. I felt a bit guilty over printing out a scanned copy even for reading since I would prefer to give the author my money, but I guess I'll make that up someday buying a hardback edition of "Teatro Grottesco!"

For anyone who has not read it, the story is well worth locating.

Ah... "Allan & Adelaide: An Arabesque", that story really should be in a Ligotti collection. I thought it was great.

Re: What's missing from my collection?

I just found and purchased a copy of Fantasy Macabre #2 (April 1981) on ebay which has "Allan & Adelaide: An Arabesque" in it. I don't know how rare it is but I got it for pretty cheap and it's in fine condition. Definitely the earliest Ligotti story I've purchased to date.
