The Twilight Zone

Never had a real opportunity of seeing The Twilight Zone (the original series, not later franchise). Or maybe I wasn't interested enough, or don't remember it. I don't recall.

I have started watching a few recommended fan favorite episodes. The first, "Where is Everybody", was nicely done. The emptiness of that town is physically felt through the screen.

"Time Enough at Last" about the bookworm is also very good, but I thought the baffled ending was unnecessarily negative. I don't see that there was any poetic justice to it, or moral lesson. Logically it follows that he will go back to the revolver and shoot himself in the head. Cruel. I thought he should have been allowed his welcome relief and opportunity of reading. Rod Serling must really have had a dark outlook, when he didn't even allow a person to escape at least some of the meaningless material world and delve into art to heighten his inner perceptions. Or, maybe not. Very grim anyhow. Well, I guess too much reading can be a negative thing. ...
