"Max Hensig - Bacteriologist and Murderer" is great, except near the end where Blackwood stumbles on the sentences (perhaps he had a few real drinks too many by then?). An interesting, scary, and entertaining novella. One of his best. A precursor to Hannibal Lecter?

Later editions only call it "Max Hensig", which I think is for the better, since it otherwise reveals too much, even though the original title sounds terrific. I wonder if it was Blackwood's own decision?
