Nearly finished one of his big novels and I just wanted to make a thread because I plan to read many more.

If you have patience to listen to him pause for a french translator and turn up the sound a bit, this is a good interview. He often shows a humor about being disappointed but not surprised by so many letdowns in his career. He has a bunch of interviews on Prisoners Of Gravity, which had a sort of comedic presentation I found a bit irritating but it's still fascinating to see so many of these writers being interviewed back then. Stableford talks about how overwhelmingly negative stories about immortality are, but he himself would risk horrible boredom and choose immortality for himself. I read one of his pre-pulp science fiction anthologies: Scientific Romance a couple of years ago and the extra notes made it so much more than it would have been without them. | |||||||||||
