"Kwaidan: Stories and Studies of Strange Things"
For lovers of the "true" weird tale: "Kwaidan: Stories and Studies of Strange Things" is a real treat. Included are several Japanese ghost tales Hearn collected in much the same way as The Grimm Brothers - translating "old texts" and transcribing the oil lamp mumblings of oral sources; and a study of Japanese symbolism and superstitions relating to insects.

Sacred Texts, where the book is hosted, is one of my favorite sites on the internet - be sure to browse through their selection of books when you have a couple years to stare at a screen. | |||||||||||
