Podcasts of Cosmic Horror
First up, one of my favourite cosmic tales Donald Wandrei's "The Red Brain" (watch out for the strange brain voices!)
A Bite of Stars, a Slug of Time, and Thou Episode 5 | FreakyTrigger Second up "The Things", a tale from the perspective of the alien to one of my favourite films (based on the John W. Campbell novella Who Goes There?) John Carpenter's The Thing. http://escapepod.org/2011/06/23/ep298-the-things/ Mark S. |

Re: Podcasts of Cosmic Horror
I should have mentioned that the first podcast I linked to also includes a lengthy and interesting discussion of the story, Donald Wandrei, Lovecraft, Weird Tales, cosmic horror tales etc etc.

Re: Podcasts of Cosmic Horror
There's some really uncanny stuff here from the 1940s. I've listened to episodes 60 (The Thing on the Fourble Board), episode 1 (Nothing) and episode 7 (Inquest). The first has quite a high reputation amongst the cognoscenti of Old Time Radio. Quite rightly. It's VERY creepy indeed and I listened to it all over again straight after downloading it.

I do an enormous amount of commuting and driving at all hours and these podcasts will come in quite handy. Thanks!

I'd give "The Thing on the Fourble Board" a try first. I think if you enjoy that one it's a good entry point. I listened to another one last night "Northern Lights"; it's about cosmic caterpillars invading the world via the aurora borealis. Very weird.
