For the most part, I agree. I am more of a reader than a collector. I do value my original Songs of a Dead Dreamer, though. I am waiting for a Terry Lamsley omnibus. I can't afford those frickin first editions. I just lucked into the Reggie Oliver books being valuable. But even that doesn't matter, because I will probably never sell them.

Re: First Two Reggie Oliver Books

Of Terry's three books, only the first, "Under the Crust", is unavailable. The second, "Conference with the Dead", was reprinted by NightShade last year and is still available. The third, "Dark Matters", is still available from Ash Tree.

An omnibus would be stellar, of course, but I'm led to believe the bulk of readers interested in Lamsley's work already have it. The Night Shade book, the rumour goes, didn't see as quickly as expected, which I imagine applies a bit of brakes to any idea of an omnibus.

Re: First Two Reggie Oliver Books

It's a great collection and one that showcases Reggie Oliver's highly refined and sophisticated writing style, and one that is slowly beginning to fade away in terms of its availability, or so it seems. It's been out for a while, and again, appears to be getting more scarce. There are currently 5 or 6 available at Abebooks.com, whereas a year ago there may have been 15 or twenty. All you need to do is the math and you come to the conclusion that a few years from now there will be people looking for it and not finding it, or at least if they do, they won't be getting it for 50 dollars any more like you still can now. It will probably never be sought after like Dreams of Cardinal Vittorini or The Complete Symphonies, but I would pick up a copy at some point if you like Oliver's writing anyway. It's a great collection of tales

Re: First Two Reggie Oliver Books

For the moment, at least, it's still available directly from the publisher, so though copies are moving, they haven't been moving so fast that the book has sold out over a year later. That said, it's still a wonderful collection and worth buying. I doubt we'll ever see it for less than cover price, but Ash Tree does do yearly sales, so who knows what kind of specials one might discover?
