It seems to have sold now. I already own a copy, but was wondering how much it was selling for?

I haven't kept up with the pricing of Ligotti collectibles for a while. I saw this on eBay. This appears to be the only copy available on the net at the moment. It's the most expensive copy that I have seen advertised over the years, but it is in beautiful shape.

Wow. That's extremely pricey, even for it's rarity. Now of course I'd expect that if they really want to sell it, they are going to have to drop the price. And as we know, you can ask anything for anything and it certainly doesn't mean that you'll get it, of course. But that is, by far, the most I've seen asked for that book historically. And I pay close attention to the market for Tom's books and have for a really long time. Looks like a very nice copy, though.

Now that I think about it, I believe it is fairly priced. A first edition of Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian starts at around $4,000 and it had an estimated print run of 5,000 copies. TL's book is a mere 300 copies. And his stature in Western Lit is only going to grow. It started with Penguin Classics. (Of course, some of us recognized it as soon as we read it). I paid $600 for a copy back in the early 2000s. Mine is brand new and signed. To put some perspective on things, the next most expensive book I have ever purchased was for $150.

I am not saying it's not that valuable, but just based on what I have observed on the market. I follow auctions and sales of his work routinely and have for many years, and that's by far the highest asking price I've ever seen. It's only going to go up in value over time for sure, and again, I'd be the last guy to tell you that it isn't worth it. I have three copies of it, one being Black and White version, and of course I will never sell them. My book collection will be my daughter's some day, but I have to admit...I'd be curious to know what the B&W version would fetch at auction, especially considering that there are only three of them. My copy being Tom's ex libris copy, and the other two being owned by David Tibet and Harry Morris. But yeah...the SS copy of that book is the crowning jewel for all the reasons that we know.

That is the highest I have ever seen it listed too. The most I have ever seen an original SOADD sell for was $750. I did see one listed at just under a thousand once. That disappeared after a few weeks. I saw the leather limited edition of MWINYD sell for $1500. And I once saw a copy of Crypt of Cthulhu #68 sell for $200.

I remember you posted your B&W copy of Songs. That is one of the best books that I've ever seen.

There is what appears to be a very nice copy on Ebay right now for 333$ I have no connection to the seller but would buy it myself if I did not already own a copy. Honestly, I am tempted anyway as mine has a 1/4 tear in the top of the front cover.
