The release date, I'm afraid to say, is still the 19th of January. I don't think the status will return to 'pre-order' (Amazon seems clunkily inflexible in some ways), but will probably say something like, 'in stock again soon'. Soon being January.

Apologies for this.

I think some people have actually ordered the book having seen it in stock. I don't actually know if they will receive 'pre-release' copies as a result of this, or whether the books will only actually be sent on the release date. In any case, sorry for the mix up.

I hope those who have ordered or pre-ordered will find the wait (long or short) worth it. Personally speaking, this is my favourite work of Reggie Oliver's that I have read so far.
At this point I'm just happy that the book will be released (and in the not too far off future).

Re: Chomu Press

The email I got said "in stock", I knew it probably wasn't but when I went on to the site it said "for pre-order", so I was happy to do so.

Re: Chomu Press

By the way, people may have noticed the cover art of the various books slowly appearing on the website. I just wanted to say that the cover of Daniel Mills' Revenants has now been unveiled:

The artwork was created for us by the inestimable Hanna Tuulikki:

Re: Chomu Press

Looks great! Mysterious without being "heavy"... There's a lightness of touch about the art used by Chomu that appeals to me. It never looks like the artists are trying too hard -- but they are in complete control of their techniques.

Wandering briefly around the Chomu site, though, the thing that appeals most strongly to my own tastes is:

Dying to Read by John Elliott

Anything that references Queneau has to be worthwhile... And as for the chapter titles... 'Geraldine in Spankerland'... Superb!

Re: Chomu Press

Just a thought but if you're putting up the separate chapter names for the novel, how about giving a list of contents for each short story collection?

I'm very happy to hear this. One thing we hope the selection of books is not and that is samey. I know that people associated with 'the scene' of the new weird, literary horror, etc., probably won't have heard the name John Elliott, but all of the books listed at Chomu are ones I would personally recommend (apart from my own). In the case of Dying to Read, I think the blurby stuff on the website should give a fair idea. I could also add that the evocation of setting and character are spot on, that it completely captures a particular milieu and that there's a great tension between 'surface' and 'beneath the surface'. And it's set in the Bedfont, Feltham, Bracknell area! What more could you want?

Once again, you have read my mind. I can't remember what the previous mind-reading was... oh yes, I remember now. Anyway, yes, we shall do that as and where appropriate (EG. on The Man Who Collected Machen).

Re: Chomu Press

I must say, Chomu is one of the most exciting new presses to come around in some time. I'd love it, Quentin, if you could elaborate on the story behind its origins (if there's must of a story to tell).

Hello Simon. Thank you.

There is something of a tale to be told. Not a gargantuan tale, depending on how far back one goes, but something of a tale, anyway.

I won't tell it yet, partly because it's not all mine to tell. But the tale will be told.

Soon?

Maybe.

Re: Chomu Press

Congratulations to des, the page for Nemonymous Night is now online:

Nemonymous Night

Also I couldn't help noticing that Chormu are now sending out review copies of their next two books, IWWHFTL and The Dracula Papers. I don't know if they plan to send to review blogs like they did with Remember Your A One Ball! but I hope it's worth mentioning.

I think that copies will be going to one or two blog venues, yes. Probably the same or simiar places as RYAOB.

I can't wait till these books come out... Only two months away now...
