Ligotti Presentation and Reading of The Shadow at the Bottom of the world

I can't wait! This Saturday at 1:30pm in Dunnstown, er, Mobile, Alabama! I'll be introducing and reading one of my very favorite tales.

Here's the presentation description in full:

Quote
Delve into "The Shadow at the Bottom of the World," a tale by the legendary Thomas Ligotti, featuring an uncanny figure akin to Lovecraft's eldritch entities, yet uniquely Ligottian in its form and the existential dread it evokes. In his introduction to the story, horror author and Ligotti narrator and scholar Jon Padgett elucidates Ligotti's significance as a contemporary heir to Lovecraft. Through the lens of "The Shadow at the Bottom of the World," discover an autumnal outré horror of the sort only the mind of Thomas Ligotti could conjure. Following the intro, Padgett will read Ligotti's enthralling, classic tale in its entirety. Don’t miss it!

Click here to purchase your tickets to the Festival, which is appearing here for the first time but is always something special.

"Thomas Ligotti is a master of a different order, practically a different species. He probably couldn’t fake it if he tried, and he never tries. He writes like horror incarnate.”
—Terrence Rafferty, New York Times Book Review

Your essay on liminal spaces in The Shadow at the Bottom of the World actually inspired me to write the intro. I quote you in it. A lot of the intro compares Ligotti's story to HPL's "The Colour Out of Space," which feels like its direct literary ancestor.

Here's the whole thing minus a line or two of the story itself. Please excuse the sound on and off for the first ten or fifteen minutes. I was competing with a film showing next door.
