Will we accept that?

Hm. Meat Loaf. This song might help promote the book?

We're always slipping through the the cracks
Then the movie's over—fade to black
Life is a lemon and I want my money back

But, honestly, I'm really excited about this. It's quiite out of the ordinary for such a relatively obscure writer and it's quite well-deserved. I hope they'll go for the omnibus.

Re: Is A Penguin Classics Ligotti Reprint Forthcoming?

I'm hoping against their doing a hardcover. Hardly anyone seems to do them right these days, they end up looking and feeling cheap and the binding is usually crap, but they cost a lot. My print on demand softcovers are holding up more nicely than most any hardcover from a big name publisher that I've purchased in the last 10 years.

I agree entirely. The hardcovers in the del Toro series look and feel very cheap (although I confess to having an erotic appreciation for the smooth feel of the boards as I press my fingers to them). I have a real fondness for Penguin Classic softcovers, & wou'd love to add a Ligotti to my collection.

Re: Is A Penguin Classics Ligotti Reprint Forthcoming?

I don't know what's used to coat those boards but I do love it. Plenty of books recently have had that thin coat of rubber feeling (such as Children of Old Leech and The Madness of Cthulhu). It's almost as nice as leather.

Fedogan & Bremer do it right. Sturdy boards, the pages are sewn in instead of just glued…

Re: Is A Penguin Classics Ligotti Reprint Forthcoming?

If they are going for an all-encompassing best-of volume I wish they would include Crampton and The Agonizing Resurrection of VF. A cheap unpretentious softcover is fine with me.

Re: Is A Penguin Classics Ligotti Reprint Forthcoming?

In the continuing tradition of repeating M. VanderMeer...in his post from yesterday, he mentions having finished the introduction to the upcoming Thomas Ligotti reprint (Songs...and Grimscribe).

I saw that too, and it lines up with what I've been told previously -- Songs and Grimscribe in a single volume. Though, again, I can only say that the details are tentative ones and subject to change. Nothing official yet.

Re: Is A Penguin Classics Ligotti Reprint Forthcoming?

Perhaps if this projected forthcoming volume makes Penguin enough dough, they'll bake us the second half of The Nightmare Factory...only Ray Kurzweil can see that far in the future...
