CRAMPTON - Hardcover edition - by Thomas Ligotti and Brandon Trenz (Chiroptera Press)

Crampton by Thomas Ligotti and Brandon Trenz

Hardcover edition of 250x - 52x are available

THIS IS A PRE-SALE - SHIPS IN FEBRUARY

ALL SALES FINAL

In the overstuffed land of unproduced teleplays lies a gem that could have redefined horror in television—"Crampton," written as an episode of The X-Files, by Brandon Trenz and the legendary Thomas Ligotti. When an FBI agent is assassinated by a man who turns out to be a mannequin, agents Mulder and Scully are led to Crampton—a small town concealing a roaring abyss of madness behind a tacky, curtained veneer.

After The X-Files episode remained unproduced, Trenz and Ligotti expanded their script into a full-length screenplay. The film adaptation fleshes out the original teleplay, removing Mulder and Scully, introducing new characters, locations and featuring notably graphic violence and hard-hitting dialogue. What sets Crampton apart, however, is its philosophical depth. Unlike The X-Files, in which viewers could pin their fears on governmental or ETI conspiracies, Ligotti and Trenz offer no such refuge. In the world of Crampton, the conspiracy behind the scenes isn't orchestrated by human or even alien figures; it is inherent in the fabric of reality itself—absurd, enigmatic, and merciless.

"Thomas Ligotti is a master of a different order, practically a different species. He probably couldn’t fake it if he tried, and he never tries. He writes like horror incarnate.”

!!! Today I received my signed hardcover Crampton (part of the slip-cased set) today. I am really pleased how Chiroptera stays so close to the advertised drop date unlike so many others in the small-press, high-end genre publishing world.

Quite a few editorial passes over a long while, so yes--it's definitely revised.

Re: CRAMPTON - Hardcover edition - by Thomas Ligotti and Brandon Trenz (Chiroptera Pr

Does anyone know if Chiroptera will be doing a soft-cover reprint of the now sold-out Crampton?

edit: fwiw I just picked up a 1st edition softcover online for $65, not too shabby

I've been very impressed with the press, having obtained Pictures of the Apocalpse/Paradoxes from Hell, Noctuary/Spectral Link, plus having the new Mark Samuels and Michigan Basement on pre-order.

I’ll check with Dennison on the softcover reprint. I can absolutely vouch for his incredible commitment to quality and attention to detail.

I have or have ordered all those titles from Chiroptera/Psilowave too. I wish pre-orders for those titles or at least some of those titles opened at the same time instead of them being announced/spaced out every few weeks or months.

This is my routine: Get excited over news of a Ligotti edition from Chiroptera. Endure a stressful wait until I can pre-order one. Rush to pre-order a title when it drops, get the hardcover/signed version if I can help it. Pay the price plus the extra 40USD or so shipping to SE Asia costs. Get shocked shortly thereafter and swear profusely when a new Ligotti project gets announced. Endure a stressful wait until I can pre-order it. Rush to pre-order it when it drops, get the hardcover/signed version if I can help it. Pay the price plus the extra 40USD or so shipping to SE Asia costs but now insert extra step involving me feeling terrible that I am shelling that money for shipping AGAIN a few weeks after I spent exactly that much for shipping.

Of course, trusting that there will still be copies available after weeks/months to make a massive order and pay for bloody shipping ONCE is out of the question.

And so the brutal cycle continues: pre-order another title, pay good money, pay the 40USD for shipping again and so on again and again and again until either a. I die or b. Chiroptera announces pre-orders are now open for at least two or more new bloody Ligotti editions.

Sorry. Had to let this out of my system.

That's a reasonable opinion, xylokopos. There are many books that I don't even buy because I would have to pay $25 for shipping.
